Well, okay, he's a minion of Dr. Frankenstein who has never been featured in this series (and never will because why would I? He may be the real monster of his series, as the Hammer movies showed, but he doesn't appear in Castlevania so there's no reason to show him here). His creature shows up, so having Igor appear makes sense (plus, of course, Igor was in the first Castlevania game, which helps). And since Frankie works for Dracula (or did, anyway), Igor is Dracula's minion. Basic transitive properties, there.</p></div> Mon, 19 Jun 2017 00:00:00 -0400 DSWC: Villains - #877: Back and Forth http://www.cvrpg.com//archive/villains/2017/06/17 <div><img src='http://www.cvrpg.com/comics/villains877.png'></div><div><p>In all honesty, I don't have a lot of frames for Shaft. Heck, the entire Souls series (Dark and Demon) is based on being able to read what your opponent is doing and anticipate how to avoid the attacks. This is why I can never play them -- I'm too twitchy to ever be able to handle a game like that. Hell, much as I love them, I'm really bad at the Castlevania games.</p></div> Thu, 15 Jun 2017 00:00:00 -0400 CVRPG - #2953: Heads Up! http://www.cvrpg.com//archive/comic/2017/06/14 <div><img src='http://www.cvrpg.com/comics/comic2953.png'></div><div><p>Although running a comic along a fairly rigid 2D plane isn't always the most realistic (and I do sometimes break the plane for specific jokes or storytelling reasons), it does sometimes allow me to setup some decent gags. It also does mimic the style of classic video games pretty well, which is what I'm really trying to go for with this whole series.</p></div> Wed, 14 Jun 2017 00:00:00 -0400 DSWC: Heroes - #876: Totally Hard Fight http://www.cvrpg.com//archive/dswc/2017/06/14 <div><img src='http://www.cvrpg.com/comics/dswc876.png'></div><div><p>I don't really feature Igor much in this series, but this seemed like a good time to bust him out. Normally this would be where I have Frankie and Mummy appear, but they left the castle at the start of DSWC II and I'm not really certain if we've rebooted them back in as minions or not. I've rebooted so many times that even I can't keep up anymore.</p></div> Wed, 14 Jun 2017 00:00:00 -0400 CVRPG - #2952: Hasty Retreat http://www.cvrpg.com//archive/comic/2017/06/13 <div><img src='http://www.cvrpg.com/comics/comic2952.png'></div><div><p>In general I think the Stalkers work as a long-term villain. They have firepower and know-how so they serve as a good foil for the Terrans and our heroes. Plus, they're not the kind of enemy to just forget a defeat like this. Keeping the fleet around for a while to harry at our heroes over time make good long-term storytelling sense.</p> <p>Plus they have cool armor. Gotta keep them around for that reason.</p></div> Tue, 13 Jun 2017 00:00:00 -0400 DSWC: Villains - #875: Common Knowledge http://www.cvrpg.com//archive/villains/2017/06/13 <div><img src='http://www.cvrpg.com/comics/villains875.png'></div><div><p>Okay, okay. One more fourth wall break. But, to be fair, it makes sense. If Clone Richter has all the memories of Real Richter (which we've established he largely does), then he should at least have an inkling that this is all just a web comic. Perfectly logical.</p></div> Tue, 13 Jun 2017 00:00:00 -0400 CVRPG - #2951: Very Impressive http://www.cvrpg.com//archive/comic/2017/06/12 <div><img src='http://www.cvrpg.com/comics/comic2951.png'></div><div><p>Well of course it took a full bore blast -- it's not actually real. Unless the blast hit the teeny tiny ship inside the hologram, there's no way it would do anything at all. Even if it did hit, it's not as though the ship would make a giant explosion. Sure, the little ship would, but the rest of it would probably just wink out of existence.</p> <p>Not that the Stalkers know any of this.</p></div> Mon, 12 Jun 2017 00:00:00 -0400 DSWC: Heroes - #875: Not Important http://www.cvrpg.com//archive/dswc/2017/06/12 <div><img src='http://www.cvrpg.com/comics/dswc875.png'></div><div><p>And I think we've reached the end of them discussing Castlevania and breaking the fourth wall. I've said all I needed to say on that subject now, I think. This is just confirming her order at this point. And, let's face it, the heroes have not made many friends here at all. Hard to forgive the destruction of a planet. I mean, look at the Empire -- they blew up Alderaan and it was all down hill from there for that administration.</p></div> Fri, 09 Jun 2017 00:00:00 -0400 DSWC: Heroes - #874: Many and None http://www.cvrpg.com//archive/dswc/2017/06/09 <div><img src='http://www.cvrpg.com/comics/dswc874.png'></div><div><p>My current count has Maria in five games (mostly as a young girl) and that doesn't count remakes, re-releases, and collections. She has way more once you factor all those in. Of course, often she's included because Richter's in a title -- since she played a major role in his game, she gets to tag along every time he goes somewhere. It's like how Trevor, Sypha, and Grant always have to make some kind of appearance (or at least get a reference) in a game any time Alucard shows up.</p></div> Fri, 09 Jun 2017 00:00:00 -0400 CVRPG - #2949: The Fleet Cometh http://www.cvrpg.com//archive/comic/2017/06/08 <div><img src='http://www.cvrpg.com/comics/comic2949.png'></div><div><p>Can't forget about the fleet. I mean, they're bugs, and not Terran bugs, so unless there was some grand race of superior beings going around the galaxy seeding all the planets to have similar beings (you know, like in Star Trek, and I know that because I've watched way too much Star Trek), it's doubtful two planets would have the same concept and implementation of gender. Too hard to swallow.</p></div> Wed, 07 Jun 2017 00:00:00 -0400
