I mean, heroes in all media pretty much can have the same accusations lobbed at them, but then that's why so many of them go through the "are they heroes or vigilantes" phase.

Not that these people are anything more than just menaces.

Tue, 28 Feb 2017 00:00:00 -0500 CVRPG - #2876: Ignore the Outfit

She is dressed like a Stalker. Sometimes you do have to judge a book at face value. Especially when that book blew up your planet. We're really not cruising past that any time soon.

Mon, 27 Feb 2017 00:00:00 -0500 CVRPG - #2875: Not the Best Crew

Hey, they're the ones that blew up a planet. Whatever else happens, that does tend to color any interactions moving forward, especially when you're dealing with the admiral who was supposed to be protecting said planet. May put you on the wrong foot moving forward.

Fri, 24 Feb 2017 00:00:00 -0500 CVRPG - #2874: Not Entirely Crazy

Despite all the stories she heard from her nana, one has to think that seeing magic up close is a lot different than the stories. A lot harder to believe for one. Plus, Claudette wasn't around for the stories of their famous past exploits, so likely nothing prepared the Admiral for this.

Thu, 23 Feb 2017 00:00:00 -0500 DSWC: Villains - #830: Talk Talk Talk

You know, I'm sure I was having them talk to the Bunny for some reason. But now... I just can't remember why. Damn it.

Thu, 23 Feb 2017 00:00:00 -0500 CVRPG - #2873: Suddenly!

Well, she can phase through matter went she wants to. It's kind of hard to keep her out of anywhere... or hit her with anything non-magical if she so chooses.

Wed, 22 Feb 2017 00:00:00 -0500 DSWC: Heroes - #830: In Triplicate

It has been a long time since we saw any evil Richter clones. Felt like it was about time we brought him back. Or, in this case, them.

Admit it, they're the superior Richter.

Wed, 22 Feb 2017 00:00:00 -0500 CVRPG - #2872: More Than One

You know, I moved the comic to the future so I could trim the cast of characters and get everything back to being manageable again. I count five characters on screen right now (not counting Gertie) and another three elsewhere. Somehow I think I failed in my goal..

Tue, 21 Feb 2017 00:00:00 -0500 DSWC: Villains - #829: Good Opportunity

You know if you found Medusa like this you'd do the same exact thing. Don't try to deny it.

Tue, 21 Feb 2017 00:00:00 -0500 CVRPG - #2871: Recognition

I say we just call it a warning shot and try diplomacy again. Otherwise they could completely destroy you, which would probably be bad.

Well, except for Gertie. She'd probably survive again. Maybe as a starbase this time.

Mon, 20 Feb 2017 00:00:00 -0500 DSWC: Heroes - #829: Metal Moments

The real reason is, of course, that I have the sprites from Toobin (the old Tengen game) that I use and I haven't bothered to look for any other bottle sprites he could throw. But this explanation works too.

I fully realize the damage Trevor is taking is totally out of whack for what Dracula could actually do in CV3, but we have to use the CVRPG-style of damage for in-comic consistency.

Mon, 20 Feb 2017 00:00:00 -0500 DSWC: Villains - #828: Tense Tied

I read a series of novellas, the Time Patrol, and that series touches upon the fact that you can't really discuss time travel in the proper tensing because English doesn't really have a way to account for events that will happen/have happened/might not happen all at the same time in the Past. Just can't really cope with it.

Sat, 18 Feb 2017 00:00:00 -0500 CVRPG - #2870: Docking Signal?

I dunno, man. Can you really blame them? Our heroes are really nothing but trouble.

Fri, 17 Feb 2017 00:00:00 -0500 DSWC: Heroes - #828: High Tolerance

Admittedly, Richter did say "Oh shit" a comic ago, but then maybe he was expecting something more impressive than this. At this point, after everything I've put this fool through, he does have pretty high standards went it comes to weird shit.

Fri, 17 Feb 2017 00:00:00 -0500 CVRPG - #2869: Free Floating

This is the longest running gag in the series, I think, and it didn't even start here. I blame everyone that didn't laugh at this joke the first time I used it over in DSWC -- my continued use of it is your fault.

The thing is, though... I really kind of like this song now. It's grown on me over the years.

Thu, 16 Feb 2017 00:00:00 -0500 DSWC: Villains - #827: Too Far?

I dunno. I think her idea has some merit. Could be very tasteful.

Thu, 16 Feb 2017 00:00:00 -0500 CVRPG - #2868: Set Course for "Away"

I do eventually have to get the two crews back together. This has been fun, but there's a bigger quest still ahead and I'll need all my heroes to tackle it.

And maybe a few extra...

Wed, 15 Feb 2017 00:00:00 -0500 DSWC: Heroes - #827: Helpful Advice

Well, I mean they haven't been all that useful so far. It's probably a little late to expect them to change now.

Wed, 15 Feb 2017 00:00:00 -0500 CVRPG - #2867: Load Times

Well, yeah, it's important to keep the eye on the ball, people. There is a tendency to get distracted, a lot, at inopportune times. Thankfully Gertie was here to keep everyone in line.

FYI, the X stands for X rated. Because of course it does.

Tue, 14 Feb 2017 00:00:00 -0500 DSWC: Villains - #826: In and Around Itself

This whole realm is way more complicated than I meant for it to be originally. That said, the rules have remained internally consistent even if the whole realm is really odd. Time doesn't exist here, and we already kind of knew that because Darkmoon and Richter could be here at the same time despite being something like 75 years or so separated in reality. Alec could then show up here despite being dead at the time Darkmoon was here... and also being two years separated. Plainly this place has it's own rules.

Of course, time has to move linearly as well within the realm because otherwise these beings wouldn't be able to have discussions the way they do. Talking is a fairly linear activity.

Shaft is right, though. By the rules of the realm he should be able to visit himself. Something tells me that would be bad (and not just because the Bunny said so).

Tue, 14 Feb 2017 00:00:00 -0500 CVRPG - #2866: Full Service System

Remember, Gertie is in a relationship with Golem. They haven't seen each other in a few hours (jeez, it's really only been that short a window, hasn't it?), but that doesn't change their commitment so far.

That said, she was a different shape the last time he saw her. He better not make a comment about her weight.

Mon, 13 Feb 2017 00:00:00 -0500 DSWC: Heroes - #826: Where Could He Be?

So we have Blacula is a fairly evolved bat form. This is, of course, the giant bat from Rondo of Blood, recolored to better match the bat form Blacula has been using. I also gave him grey versions of Shaft's orbs since Blacula uses orbs for his powers. Seemed fitting, and everything is from the same game so they blend together fairly well.

I think Richter may be outmatched. But, then, he's always outmatched.

Mon, 13 Feb 2017 00:00:00 -0500 DSWC: Villains - #825: Reversal

It is true that no one has really had the ability to try and stone enemies. I remember being able to freeze them in a couple of different games (Castlevania III and Circle of the Moon both come to mind), but stoning them is a lot less common (I can't think of any game that lets it happen, actually). And being able to do it to bosses (frost or stone) is completely out. Interesting...

I guess Jennifer really was on to something.

Sat, 11 Feb 2017 00:00:00 -0500 CVRPG - #2865: New Girl In Town

So here we have Claudette's friend, the lady she was working with on the asteroid. I mention that because she's not in her armor any more so I didn't want people to get confused. It would have been better if I had named her at any point earlier in the run so that she could just say her name here -- Cynthia Redmond -- and everyone would have just known. But no. I had to be stupid about it. Ah well.

It's nice to see that even though I'm coming up on 15 years doing this comic I can still fuck up.

Anyway, here's Cynthia. She's in her space suit still but she's not wearing the helmet that goes with because she's on a space ship now and that thing is super bulky. I'm sure I'll make use of it later so you guys can see it.

Fri, 10 Feb 2017 00:00:00 -0500 DSWC: Heroes - #825: New Form Transform

I do feel weird doing battles like, especially ones set in the past. I mean, we kind of know what's going to happen, right? I wouldn't completely reboot all of Castlevania continuity...

No, wait, I've done that three times now. And Konami did it once. Shit, I guess there are stakes to this battle.

Fri, 10 Feb 2017 00:00:00 -0500
