#2286: Pretty Artwork

This Comic's Cast:

I still don't understand Dracula's reasoning for having chapels and cathedrals in his castle. Sure, from one angle, the castle was a real castle, back when Dracula was a real boy. And a real castle would have some kind of church within it.

And yet, the castle is reformed ever time Drac-baby shows up. One would assume Dracula would have clued in that, hey, maybe keeping weapons (like axes, crossed, daggers) and items (like hearts and food) around for the heroes may not be the best idea.

It's probably that balance thing again. I mean, the castle's a chaos thing not an evil thing. I think Drac can enforce his will on it to a degree, but he's not the complete master of it. He's just sort of taped himself to it. I mean, Dracula himself actually got lost in it once, didn't he?

And maybe the chaotic nature of it means that every new layout is just a different way it COULD have been built back in the day. The fact that it would in all designs have had a cathedral means one always shows up.

You know, I expected commentary on werewolves and where they live. I actually like this line of comments better. ;)

I imagine that it’s just a well fortified castle and his past habit of collecting arcane artifacts means there’s a bunch laying around too. A castle of considerable history - especially one where presumably many would be heroes and former men at arms likely perished - would likely have old weapons laying about and so on. A cathedral would have been a common feature of many castles of the age, but for the purpose of the game I’d wager the cathedral itself isn’t actually holy. At least, any more. It could most certainly have been defiled or otherwise warped. Of course, there’s also an assumption - just because it’s a cathedral, what says it’s a one dedicated to God and all that is holy? Heck, you could keep similar themes and still have it easily be dedicated to Satan, who was after all an angel. Looking pretty and having the surface appearance of being clean or santificed could be effectively meaningless in that place, and could even be a deception to the unwitting. Certainly monsters have no trouble walking there. Additionally, there have been creatures in the castle’s service that were holy aligned or wielded Light Powers. And as mentioned elsewhere... there’s that whole chaos thing. Earnestly, the silliest thing is just how many of the items are presented, such as the whole candle thing. But that’s just silly game mechanics for easy access player contrivance. *hand wave*

When evil spreads across the land, and darkness rises and the monsters roam. When the creatures of the night make beautiful music, and the things that go bump in the night go bump with greater enthusiasm. When the world is in peril and is in need of a hero...

These guys are, sadly, the best the world can hope for. These are the adventures of the heroes of CVRPG. They mean well, they try hard, and occasionally they do the impossible...

They actually do something heroic.
