Hey, there's the bat! In case you were thinking that Katrina just somehow magically managed to keep alive this whole time without changing, this proves that's not the case. Darkie has suffered a lot of changes due to the (presumably) black magic she's had to cast over the years.
Also note that, by now, Katrina should be much less cat like if she wasn't using "bad" magic to keep alive. She actually is slightly more catlike than she was 800 years ago (especially in many of the actions she can take now, like her pounce). She's not a lich, by any means, but she's done a few things she's not proud of.
Poor Darkie. Seriously, how the heck does he make noises?!
