So, yeah, that's a bit more than the base that exploded. That base must have been much bigger than what we saw, or the mines must have run through more of the planet than we realized.

I would blame it on Samus... she hasn't really got a good track record for the number of times she's left a planet completely undamaged after a visit.

I think Samus is long dead by now, considering she was around 800 years ago. Personally, I'd blame Angel.

for all we know Samus was from the future in the first place and eventually got sent back.
