There's no clear rule on how long a spell like Magic Wall should last. Alec is a very powerful Light mage, so presumably his spell would last longer than if it were cast by some other magic user.
I don't think I've ever used that attack spell since the little warrior dude tried to cast it. I assume it must have been tied to his sprite sheet, and since I actually don't think I've ever used a version of that character again either, stands to reason...
