#490: Bats!

One never knows all the powers Darkmoon lost when he got his soul back. Maybe he could make himself into a big mass of bats, and now that he can't shape-change (a power he lost), he'll never be able to get that mass-bat trick back. How sad.

That said, I always wonder if vampires should be able to transform into a single bat. I play fast and loose with the rule, letting the vamps do as they please for the sake of dramatic effect, but if you really thought about it, the laws of physics would dictate that, rationally, vampires should have to transform into a mass of bats of equal mass to the original, human form.

Although that would be damned unwieldy.

Wouldn't any kind of magical transformation ability require some degree of controlled matter-energy conversion going on? Therefore why should the end mass be equal to the start mass? Couldn't the excess energy just be 'stored' with a sub-dimensional 'shadow' of the form with the lesser amount of mass? Technically it still isn't breaking the rules of physics, it's just doing things with them that can't be readily duplicated with the tools that 'science' has discovered how to create.

When evil spreads across the land, and darkness rises and the monsters roam. When the creatures of the night make beautiful music, and the things that go bump in the night go bump with greater enthusiasm. When the world is in peril and is in need of a hero...

These guys are, sadly, the best the world can hope for. These are the adventures of the heroes of CVRPG. They mean well, they try hard, and occasionally they do the impossible...

They actually do something heroic.
