As I mentioned, Bucky went from being unable to fly to being spontaneously able to fly AND carry Link. Damn it, that was a major error and I have no way to handwave it away.

For the record, I meant to give Alec a hookshot at some point, but as with the boomerang, eventually that idea just didn't seem to feel very Alec-y, so I dropped it.
