That little blobby is the baby metroid from Super Metroid. For a metroid, it's kind of a cute little bugger.
Were I to give another series the "Inverted Dungeon" treatment, it would probably be the Metroid series. Well, either that or the Green Lantern comics, but that doesn't really have anything to do with this strip.
