I might not have done much with it, but I always remember it's there if I need it. She's a thief, for all she does as a member of the rogue class, so when you need to get into a locked area, Princess is there to aid the mission.
I guess if her Princess outfit is a thief, maybe her Metal Gear outfit conveys Monk status. She's got a lot of martial arts skills, so it's a good fit.
