It's hard to shake being a human servant. Renfield never managed to. Hec, Xander (from Buffy the Vampire Slayer) is still a little bit under Dracula's thrall (and it's been years since he was first brought under control -- this is counting all the Buffy comics and everything, of course). If Raye isn't killed, Alec and Princess could feel that tug forever.
