#1399: On to the Next Place

This Comic's Storylines:

As mentioned in the comic comment, this world's maps come courtesy of Golden Axe Warrior. If and when I diverge from that I'll point it out, of course.

Golden Axe Warrior is a weird game (and one I haven't managed to find a copy of in the various resale shops I frequent). It's ostensibly part of the Golden Axe series of beat 'em ups, and yet it plays like a C-grade Zelda game. Hell, these maps look straight up like a BS Zelda clone, despite it not being made by Nintendo at all.

The reasoning behind the creation of this game must astound everyone.

When evil spreads across the land, and darkness rises and the monsters roam. When the creatures of the night make beautiful music, and the things that go bump in the night go bump with greater enthusiasm. When the world is in peril and is in need of a hero...

These guys are, sadly, the best the world can hope for. These are the adventures of the heroes of CVRPG. They mean well, they try hard, and occasionally they do the impossible...

They actually do something heroic.
