I don't know if Samus actually has this power -- I doubt she does. I know she can get fire guns in Metroid Prime, but I doubt she can do a spread-shot flame thrower.
And yet, if the guys from the Contra series can get that gun, why can't Samus, right? Seems like an easy power to pull off.

Metroid Prime’s charged plasma upgrade behaved as a flamethrower. It was an easy upgrade to miss, and as one of the upgrades that ate missiles to activate, somewhat disappointingly underpowered as I recall. It often gets skipped entirely outside of 100% runs, so it’s not surprising it’s forgotten.
