In Castlevania 64 the minions of Dracula collected a bunch of children to find one that would serve best as a host for Dracula. So apparently, children are ideal hosts for the Dark Lord.
This presumes, of course, that the Dark Lord isn't just going to naturally rise from his grave. It apparently takes a lot of effort to wake a vampire before he's ready to wake up.
