I have to give Alec credit -- it does make perfect sense. Now, some could argue that what Alec is talking about -- using these mechanics to set this whole weird plan in motion -- is doomed to fail. The fact that the universe hasn't ended is simply proof they never defeat the Sorceress.

Or, maybe, the paradox only kicks in once the timelines have reached a point where the Sorceress is defeated. Everything will go along swimmingly until them, and then kablooey.

However, as far as CVRPG is concerned, we've pretty well established that for our purposes each change in a timeline shoots the heroes down a different route. It's like Back to the Future where two timelines existed and changing history on one (via Biff Tannen and the Sports Almanac) didn't remove the existence of the other.

Not that Back to the Future 2 should be held up as an exemplar of good time travel (like how the hell did Biff Tannen get back to the unchanged future when his changes should have already taken effect), but you get what I'm going for.

When evil spreads across the land, and darkness rises and the monsters roam. When the creatures of the night make beautiful music, and the things that go bump in the night go bump with greater enthusiasm. When the world is in peril and is in need of a hero...

These guys are, sadly, the best the world can hope for. These are the adventures of the heroes of CVRPG. They mean well, they try hard, and occasionally they do the impossible...

They actually do something heroic.
