#2475: Graphic Design

This Comic's Storylines:

Of course, saying that the military used Windows 95, I had to then explain it. I won't lie, I just used Windows 95 because I thought it was funny, just a joke that I then went with... just because?

Of course, then I had to come up with a reason to justify it. It doesn't really hold up to scrutiny, but at first blush it kind of makes sense.

I didn't remember that the Space Legion were the heroes of a series of books by Robert Asprin until after I wrote them into this comic. But hey, it works -- now, like Discworld, I have stolen from another source I used to read all the time.

Discworld is better, though.

Now if you Really wanted to do a bit of a zinger, you could have gone with Windows XP and people would have gotten it and why it was such a groaner. Haven't read Robert Asprin but I do love Discworld so I'll just go with you on that one. ^_^;

I guess in a way, it's sorta clever. Most, heck, damn near EVERYONE who'd try to hack into military systems would think to search for vulnerabilities like they're assaulting a custom military OS. As long as they've removed the identifying symbols as to what the OS is, people are going to go about it like they're dealing with something extremely advanced. It's a bit like using an actual physical key to lock a door where it's so far in the future, most people wouldn't even know what a key is even if they found one.

Yeah. The main problem with Windows 95 in that setting would be... you don't need to hack it: it hacks itself. Run a couple of programs concurrently for a while and they'll end up interfering with each other's memory and crashing the whole system. Not to mention the Windows Registry becomes more and more corrupted as time goes by, so just keep using the computer for a while, even with no Internet connection, and it will crash pretty soon.

When evil spreads across the land, and darkness rises and the monsters roam. When the creatures of the night make beautiful music, and the things that go bump in the night go bump with greater enthusiasm. When the world is in peril and is in need of a hero...

These guys are, sadly, the best the world can hope for. These are the adventures of the heroes of CVRPG. They mean well, they try hard, and occasionally they do the impossible...

They actually do something heroic.
