Honestly, this whole subplot with Gertie wasn't planned at all. I mean, it's going to tie in so well with what I have planned that I don't mind at all. It'll really work out great in the long run. This is just one of those quirks that happens from a long-form storytelling style like this -- as you write along fun little side plots creep up and you just have to go with it.
