I need two characters on screen so I can have talking. I knew Shaft needed an assistant, but I couldn't think of who or what to give him. Then it came to me: Shaft has been making clones, so Shaft's assistant would be Shaft. He is, of course, the perfect assistant, as we've well seen over on DSWC. Clearly this was the right solution. But it is weird, right?
