DSWC Heroes Introduction #4: The Lineage
In the Castlevania series, several heroes, over the course of several centuries, have taken up the Vampire Killer (that special whip) to battle Dracula and his armies:

Trevor Belmont, one of the earliest heroes in the series, battled Dracula once. He then battled the armies left after Dracula's defeat, taking on new enemies and foes.

Christopher, next to face against Dracula, was unable to truly defeat the vampire in his first encounter. Unbeknownst to him, Dracula escaped their first battle, and years later launched a second attack against the Belmont, using the hero's own son as leverage.

Simon... ahh, well Simon has been in more games than any other hero in the series. He starred in three games in the continuity, but those three games spawned more remakes and reinventions than any other hero. When someone thinks of the Castlevania series, they think first of Simon.

Richter, as we discussed, has been in two games, but both shared the same place in the continuity. After his battle with Dracula, he was then brainwashed by Dracula's lieutenant, Shaft, and made to work for Dracula. He's also cameoed as a playable character in a few games.

Hanz, though, never got a game. His name, really, isn't even Hanz -- he's simply known, officially, as the Adversary. His game, Bloodletting, was supposed to be on the Sega 32X, a peripheral for the Genesis system. But, when the 32X tanked, Bloodletting was canceled and the designs for the game were reused in Symphony of the Night. In DSWC, Hanz is named and treated as Richter's brother, always longing to be the hero that he never had a chance to be.

When evil spreads across the land, and darkness rises and the monsters roam. When the creatures of the night make beautiful music, and the things that go bump in the night go bump with greater enthusiasm. When the world is in peril and is in need of a hero...

These guys are, sadly, the best the world can hope for. These are the adventures of the heroes of CVRPG. They mean well, they try hard, and occasionally they do the impossible...

They actually do something heroic.
