While Darkmoon steadfastly refuses to ask for directions, or use a map, or in any logical way use the tools that are presented to all of civilization to navigate his way through the world (Sextant? Bah!), he's not above taking good advice when others present it.
Maybe he just doesn't like to read. He could be illiterate (or at least never learned to read English or whatever language it is the characters are actually speaking since this is Romania, technically).
