#2414: Cheap Music, Free Beer

So let's talk artwork. CVRPG has gone hand-drawn insofar as I'm drawing it with my hands... on my computer... with a mouse. And I'm doing it in Illustrator. Making vector sprite sheets. So, yes, I still do a fair bit of copy-paste as I'm assembling the comics.

Some might say that's a cheat, that it's still sprite-sheets and this is still a sprite comic. Sure, why not. I'm not going to deny the fact. I can, in fact, draw, but my problem with illustrating has always been that what I can draw something that looks nice once, I can't make it look the same way, nicely, every time. So I found a work-around.

I am still spending hours making the art for each character, and I do draw everything in the comic (no cheating). So while it may seem like a bit of a work-around, it's still a hand-drawn comic most ways of looking at it.

Now, one benefit of doing all the art in a vector-art program is that I can really zoom in on the characters to show details and facial expressions when I want. It allows me to have a scene, like this, where the characters are going to be talking for a bit, and still make it feel fairly dynamic looking. I like that.

Finally, a portal that doesn't spill the beer! Brilliant!

When evil spreads across the land, and darkness rises and the monsters roam. When the creatures of the night make beautiful music, and the things that go bump in the night go bump with greater enthusiasm. When the world is in peril and is in need of a hero...

These guys are, sadly, the best the world can hope for. These are the adventures of the heroes of CVRPG. They mean well, they try hard, and occasionally they do the impossible...

They actually do something heroic.
