#2650: Immunity

This Comic's Cast:

In most common lore, vampires are immune to diseases. Sure, there are some stories that depict vampires as susceptible to blood-borne pathogens (for obvious reasons), but most versions of the vampire myth tend to depict them as immune to disease because they are already infected with a more powerful disease, one that doesn't like to share.

Wait. If DM and Angel have been exposed hasn't that guard also been exposed? The pathogen has infected the planet not the space around it right? And they just got to the planet, so why does this guy think they should be sick already? foreboding? Also, Darkmoon, just because you are immune to a disease doesn't mean you can't carry it with you. For all we know it could hitch a ride in your clothes.

I think I found a typo. Shouldn't Angel be saying "I thought we were friends!" at the end there? There is a missing we in that sentence, although with Angel it almost manages to make sense as is (especially if he's been drinking).

Exposed is different from actually getting sick. Being a carrier doesn't mean you will die from the disease, just that you have the potential to spread it around.

In White Wolf games, vampires can spread many diseases like mosquitoes do. It's kinda a problem. Also they're kidding around - of course they care what happens to Angel! Ideally something funny and slapstick, and not lethal. Finding new companions is inconvenient, especially teleporting drinking buddies.

It's the guard's dialogue in the second panel. He obviously thinks they have had opportunity to start showing symptoms despite them just showing up. He thinks this because there has been no opportunity for tests to see if they are sick or carriers, though he may just be a bit special.

When evil spreads across the land, and darkness rises and the monsters roam. When the creatures of the night make beautiful music, and the things that go bump in the night go bump with greater enthusiasm. When the world is in peril and is in need of a hero...

These guys are, sadly, the best the world can hope for. These are the adventures of the heroes of CVRPG. They mean well, they try hard, and occasionally they do the impossible...

They actually do something heroic.
